Road Offences

According to a recent poll; drivers in Northern Ireland are forking out the least for road offences.  Drivers in Northern Ireland can expect to by only £90 worth of fines in their lifetime.  This figure is extremely low when you consider the average in the rest of the UK.

Drivers in London can expect to pay an average of £680 in motoring fines during their lifetime.

Head of risk and underwriting at esure car insurance,Mike Pickard, said: “Owning and running a car in the UK can be very costly, particularly with rising fuel costs, and avoidable charges for driving offences only make this more expensive.

“Offences such as speeding and using a mobile phone while driving not only add points to a motorist’s driving licence but are deemed offences for a reason.

“They are actions that put drivers and other road-users at risk.”

Those based in the north-east of England paid £352 in fines – with motorists in south-east England paying £303 over their lifetime.  Scottish drivers got off reasonably well with the expect figure standing at £198

According to the the poll, men build up £344 of fines in a lifetime, compared with £210 for women.
